Overview

Overview

Dot Dot Dot is an interactive art installation featuring vibrant, mixed-media graphics that animate upon user interaction. Using projectors and Kinects, developers used Unity and Resolume, while designers animated with Rive.

Prompt

Prompt

Create an interactive exhibit for RIT's annual "Imagine RIT" festival that follows the theme "Strange Transformations."

The Team

The team consisted of seven designers and three developers. Most of us had never worked with each other before and the designers and developers didn't meet until day one. One developer was stuck in another country for the first month of the project, but that's a story for another time.

The Process

The journey from day one, to exhibition day, all the way through the final paperwork was filled with ups and downs. I learned a lot about working with a team and making an exhibition from start to finish.

Testing

Testing

Each "map" went through several rounds of design critiques to reach their final form. We had 13 final maps including one that was a free draw.

Overall, we felt our exhibit was a success. We had a line out the door at times and kids and parents alike had a great time!
